Abstract

O patrimônio compreende as nossas manifestações culturais e tem importância econômica, histórica e social, representa a nossa identidade, está diretamente ligado à garantia da memória da cidadania. No caso específico da cidade de João Pessoa/PB, o seu Centro Histórico possui uma grande importância por estar diretamente envolvido com a fundação da capital paraibana, sabendo disso, a rota de pedestre é um projeto de sinalização turística para pedestres no centro da cidade, cuja importância está na originalidade e é uma forma de conhecer o que sobreviveu ao tempo. Nesse sentido, o objetivo geral desse trabalho é apresentar essa alternativa para o turismo pessoense e analisar os motivos pelo qual a rota de pedestre não é mais utilizada assim como a possibilidade dela ser reimplantada. Para a consecução dos objetivos propostos foram realizadas pesquisas documental, bibliográfica e entrevistas, que demonstram que a rota de pedestre é vital para o turismo pessoense, mas que muitas medidas precisam ser adotadas para que ela funcione adequadamente, entre elas ações que visem à segurança pública.
