Abstract

This teaching case aims to offer an opportunity to experience situations in the context of sustainability in business through the Clínica Odontológica Dental Jr., providing knowledge and understanding of health management, sustainable management, and the management of environmental impacts. Dental Jr. is a dental clinic located in the downtown area of Florianópolis, and is run by Fabiano Rodrigues, a Dental Surgeon and Business Administrator. In 2016, with good profitability and a considerable number of patients, the clinic sought growth through sustainability management and, to that end, hired a consultant, Cristina Matos, to help them find a solution to their dilemma: how to define the sustainable strategies needed to improve the clinic’s processes. As a teaching instrument, the case was developed for application in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Business Administration, Environmental Management and Health Management, through the discussion of topics such as environmental management and sustainability in subjects such as Organizational Sustainability, Environmental Management and Health Management.
