Abstract

Public Administration uses various strategies for the production of the public good. Co-production is one of these strategies; in it, the state apparatus, third sector organizations, companies and citizens come together to provide goods and services to society. Based on an interpretive paradigm, and using the case study methodology, the article juxtaposes the theoretical framework of co-production of the public good with the reality of the Programa Educacional de Resistência às Drogas (Educational Progam for Resisting Drugs) - PROERD, in Santa Catarina. Taking as a point of departure for analysis the views of those involved in the Program, the empirical results demonstrate that the PROERD is the result of a practice of co-production of the public good, as it involves government, the community and the private initiative, all working together for the construction of the common good.
