Abstract

This article raises some aspects which are necessary for a new organizational management model for the implementation of community policing, and identifies some important aspects for ensuring the effectiveness of this public safety policy. It seeks to identify the community policing strategy, its premises and its benefits to society. It also discusses the changes necessary for the implementation of a new management model. It concludes that the activity of policing can no longer be separated from a greater universe, where the aim should be not only to resolve the problem, but also to assuage citizen's fears. Furthermore, a new police focus on the process of understanding the existing relationship between the parties (police/community) will bring unparalleled benefits for the development of public policies, and means of decreasing social exclusion.
