Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the relationship between the Production Planning & Control (PPC) and the network organizational system in blood banks in Santa Catarina State. An exploratory and descriptive case study was conducted. Data were gathered from documental research, observations and interviews, and treated in content analysis. Results highlighted standard processes and products – locally scheduled in function of previous demand and limited to the capacity of blood gathering and processing. The network structure was found to provide flexibility to deal with the rigidity, inherent to the final product, and with raw material supply fluctuations.
