Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Imply the refusal of the contribution.

1. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically by using the online form

2. Submission of an article is understood to imply that the article is original and unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere throughout the period of evaluation by CONTRAPONTOS.

3. Authors are expected to include a cover letter as a supplementary document, including: Title, Name(s) of the Author(s), Department /Unit, Institution, City, State, Country, email, A three-line Resumé, Postal address.

4. Manuscripts should be between 4500 and 8000 words in length (including references, tables and figures), written in 12 point Times New Roman and 1,5 spaced.

5. Manuscripts must contain abstracts in Portuguese and in English and be followed by three keywords in these same languages.

6. Titles and subtitles must be unnumbered and come in uppercase and lowercase letters.

7. Citations in the text are to be presented between quotations, followed by the author’s last name, the year of publication and respective pages all in parentheses. Only the year and page will appear in parentheses for the case of the author cited be part of the sentence.

8. Citations with over three lines must come as a paragraph of its own with 4cm left indent, 11. body, single spacing.

9. End notes are to be numbered and come right before the reference list.

10. Reference should follow NBR-6023 and be listed at the end of the text.

11. For articles with DOI the reference is compulsory.

12. Tables, figures, images and diagrams must appear in the text.

13. Texts for the Teacher Section and that of Insights should be limited to eight pages and comply to the same rules.

Ensaios

Seção de artigos de revisão e/ou reflexão teórico-conceitual sobre um determinado tema escritos a partir da experiência autoral do(a) ensaísta. Deve problematizar as compreensões já consolidadas no campo científico e apontar interpretações ainda não vislumbradas, sem necessariamente recorrer à revisão de literatura ou à produção de empiria.

Upon acceptance of an article, the author gives full rights of the work to Contrapontos., but retains the authorship. The published work is considered collaboration. Thus, its author will not get paid nor will s/he be charged by Contrapontos. The responsibility of the article solely goes to the authors. Citations and transcriptions are allowed by mentioning the sources.
