This paper discusses the constitution of cities in the today’s urban planning, and by drawing on History and Sociology of Education works, investigates its supposed educational competence, as alluded to in contemporary full-time education induction programs. Through a theoretical review, it seeks discusses the concepts of childhood, education, city/town, and citizenship, aimed at defining the relationship of children with urban spaces, particularly those supervised by adults.
