Abstract

In a joint study by the group TEXTQUIM of the Instituto de Letras and the Chemistry Department of UFRGS, different profiles of chemical language in Portuguese are examined. By integrating linguistic with didactic-conceptual aspects, this research follows principles of Terminology, Corpus Linguistics and Theories of Text. This article aims to give a general overview of the results obtained from items such as modalization and causality in teaching texts in higher education. At the end of the work, it reflects on how aspects of language can affect the functioning of the teaching text on the learning of this science at higher education level.
