This article entitled ‘Personal Blogs: the search for the identity of the subject in the world mediated by the Internet’ seeks to portray the identities of the subject in weblogs, or simply blogs - personal Websites, which in the last decade, in Brazil, have been expanding the process of communication via the Internet. The objective of this work is to outline the identity of users of personal web pages, and to demonstrate how fl uid and multiple the identities of subject are, particularly when that person becomes a user of a blog in cyberspace. For this study, the blogs ‘Para Francisco’ and ‘Sublimes Sucubus’ were observed and analyzed, building upon Stuart Hall, Homi Bhabha, among other authors who discuss the concept of identity, and the construction of the ‘I’. The study shows that blogs change according to the needs of the bloggers. Consequently, their identity also undergoes transformation processes, one thing being connected to the other. The virtual space enables people and objects in the real and virtual worlds to be simulated, and facilitates their deconstruction and reconstruction in order to create new images and worlds. Thus, authors and readers alter their real and virtual worlds, and themselves, where possible.Downloads
