Information from guests of a means of accommodation, in realation to whether the choice of tourism destination is determined by environmental concerns

Abstract

This study analyzes the information given by 51 guests of a means of accommodation, related to the reason for the trip, the management of solid waste in their hometown and whether the choice of tourist destination is moved by environmental concerns. The results indicate that in general, guests do not choose the tourism destination and the means of accommodation based on environmental concerns. Also, the need to increase tourists’ awareness of their responsibilities is demonstrated, in view of the environmental impacts arising from their stay in the tourist destination.
