Abstract

This article proposes the need to complement traditional sun, and sand tourism with cultural tourism, generating new products based on the cultural heritage. This can help mitigate the seasonal nature of the former, while creating potential for the growth of the latter, increasing the benefits of tourism at a regional level. This general framework is applied to the southeast region of the Province of BuenosAires, in theArgentinean Republic, and is an issue of relevance to many other tourism regions around the world. Key words: Complementarity; Sun, Sea and Sand tourism; Cultural Toursm.
