This work investigates the study of numerical sequences for teaching Mathematics, based on journal publications in the last five years, written in Portuguese. A total of thirty-five articles were retrieved, demonstrating the scarcity of academic works on this theme. This lack may be due to the initial teacher training, which rarely focuses on the pedagogical practices of teaching Mathematics or the History of Mathematics. Based on this study, we highlight importance of the academic study of numerical sequences for teaching Mathematics.
