TEACHERS’ EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF CYBERCULTURE: TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES IN METAVERSES (DIGITAL VIRTUAL WORLDS IN 3 DIMENSIONS - MDV3D)

Abstract

This article refl ects on the didactic and pedagogical possibilities in metaverses (Digital Virtual Worlds 3D - MDV3D), highlighting the contributions of these technologies for teacher education in the context of cyber culture. Based on the research, characterized as a case study, which investigates the educational potential of MDV3D in the education of teachers education on undergraduate licentiate courses in Computer Science, Physics and Pedagogy, we present an outline of teaching experience developed in the metaverse (MDV3D) Second Life (SL). For this purpose, learning situations arising from interactions in the metaverse are analyzed and discussed, revealing the potential for interaction and immersion of the participants in these technologies, and their implications in the teaching and learning processes, signaling a new route to an effective and innovative teaching practice.
