Abstract

No presente artigo, as ações governamentais, dirigidas à educação de imigrantes durante as primeiras quatro décadas do século XX, são examinadas em comparação a propostas atuais de política lingüística, representadas por legisladores, ao longo dos últimos dois anos. Dada a natureza dessa legislação, a discussão é conduzida sob a perspectiva da educação e dos direitos lingüísticos de minorias.
