This article analyzes the structural condition of educational management of small towns, based on information published in 2015 by the IBGE, “Research of Municipal Basic Educational Information” - MUNIC, with reference the year 2014. Despite using quantitative data about the object of research, it is a qualitative study, to investigate the main aspects of educational management in relation to duties and compliance with the legal provisions (LDB n. 9.394 / 96, PNE 2001 and PNE 2014). The research considers that there is a need for deeper studies in the context of educational management, on the condition of these smaller towns. They need to meet the legal provisions and relevant assignments (regardless of their size) and also in relation to the construction of an agenda for the implementation of public politics for education that consider this peculiar situation.
