CHILDHOOD AND MEDIA: a reflection on cultural products for children

In the daily life of the child, there are specific media products aimed at this target public. This article discusses the relationship between children and media, and considers their participation as active and critical receivers. As the media also has an educational function, it is necessary to investigate the way children are portrayed in its products, as well as the values and ideologies transmitted. Based on the experience with children and their contact with news magazines for children, we verified the contribution of this media on the development of critical readers from childhood, while recognizing the child’s perspective of a cultural product targeted at this segment.Downloads
