Abstract

Research in the area of hospitality involves, first and foremost, the study of human behavior, whether through seeking to meet the needs of relationship between people, or through the observation of expectations of the professionals and the difficulties they experience within the market. A paradox is also seen between technical knowledge and practice and the search for a plus in the educational field, which incorporates new objectives, content, values and forms of organization. This article seeks to relate the more sociological and philosophical aspects of hospitality, as a fundamental value in the relation of two or more individuals, with the more contemporary premises of the Private Educational Institutions, in relation to the teaching of hotel management. This article was based on a study carried out for the Masters Degree Program in Hospitality at the Universidade Anhembi Morumbi. It is believed that this foray into the world of hospitality will contribute to the construction of alternative proposals to the operational emphasis which characterizes today’s curricula.. Key words: Hospitality, Education and Competencies.
