Abstract

The landscape is considered, in its relationship with tourism, as a substantial element for the development of this activity, whether as a factor which motivates demand, or as a category of study in the academic field. Based on this observation, and with the aim of providing a planning resource for tourism and environmental qualification, this work presents the results of a study carried out in the administrative district of the Porto Belo-SC, as part of its stage of identifying the indicators of visual quality of the landscape, using an assessment methodology which is classified as being independent of the users, indirect, and broken down by components. The quality assessment indicators used in this methodology were diversity, naturalness, uniqueness and the visual damages of the landscape. The results obtained demonstrate that the level of quality was generally average or high, and that visual diversity is the main characteristic of the landscape of Porto Belo, demonstrating the principal unique features and visual landmarks responsible for this level of quality. Key words: Tourism Planning; Visual Quality of the Landscape; Porto Belo-SC.
