Abstract

This paper presents a reflection on a study developed with public high schools students. Our aim is not only to analyze, but to further knowledge on an issue that was present during and after the development of the study. We believe it is necessary not only to have a good understanding of the young generation that is in school, but also to develop the ability to listen, preceded by a sensitive evaluation, as strategies for identifying different contexts, and to direct questions so that collaborators can find meaning in their participation in the research. We bring together previous experiences based on the project Brazilian Youth and Democracy – Participation, Spheres, and Public Politics, carried out from 2004 to 2005. We observed the need for greater care in the creation and application of the research tools, taking into account the invisibility of many young people. The focus of the reflection was, therefore, instruments for the production of the quantitative data.

Nara Vieira Ramos, UFSM

Licenciada em Matemática pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1990). Mestre em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - UFSM (1997), Doutora em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS (2004), Pós Doutorado em Metodologias Participativas realizado na Universidade Complutense de Madri - Espanha (2012-2013). Professora Associada I do Departamento de Fundamentos de Educação, do Centro de Educação, UFSM. Professora Permanente do Programa de Pós Graduação em Educação, na Linha Práticas Escolares e Políticas Públicas. Pesquisadora do grupo de pesquisa "Filosofia, Cultura e Ensino Médio" e Líder Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Infâncias, Juventudes e suas Famílias - GEPIJUF. Com experiência na área de Educação. Desenvolve pesquisa com os seguintes temas:escola aberta, juventude, formação de professores, ensino fundamental e médio, participação, metodologias participativas, políticas públicas, crianças, adolescentes, jovens e famílias em situação de risco pessoal e social, Educação e Justiça Social. Coordenadora do Projeto Portal EMdiálogo na UFSM. Coordenadora Institucional do Pacto Ensino Médio na UFSM. Membro da Red CIMAS. Membro do Grupo de Investigación Cambio Educativo para la Justícia Social - GICE da Universidade Autônoma de Madri. Autores que dialoga: Paulo Freire, Alberto Melucci, Marília Spósito, Juarez Dayrell, Carlos Rodrigues Brandão, Silvia Koller, Irene Rizzini, Tomás Villasante, entre outros.
